Reflection:
What this statement probably means is that it doesn't matter what lies behind or before us is not as important to what lies within us. In other words, our conscience is much more important then what is in back of us. For example, if you want to do something worth achieving, then follow your conscience and it will lead you on where you need to go instead of following the bad thoughts in the back of our minds.
